James Hutchinson enlisted on 20th September 1915 from Ballarat. He had been born in Ballarat, was 19 years old, single and a labourer. He joined the 24th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 3839. He was killed in action during the fighting around Pozieres. His name is on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
