Biography

Frederick James Ferguson (SN 1116) was born at Pyramid Hill and educated at Rochester State School. He was a 24 year old, unmarried book keeper when he enlisted in July 1915, joining the 29th Infantry Battalion. In November he left Australia to travel to the battlefields of France, with a stopover in Egypt for several months. He was killed in action in the fighting near Flers on 27th October 1916. He is buried in the Etaples Military Cemetery, France.
