Frank James Galvin (SN 2119) born in Melbourne, was a 19 year old turner when he enlisted in Ballarat on July 7th 1915. Assigned to the 8th Light Horse Regiment his unit embarked from Melbourne aboard the Barunga on April 7th 1916. Upon arrival in Egypt he was attached to the Imperial Camel Corps. On August 1st 1916 he was hospitalised suffering from pyrexia (fever), but while in hospital was assessed as unfit for active service. He returned to Australia on the Ascanius and disembarked at Melbourne on September 29th 1916. He was discharged on November 21st as 'medically unfit – retinitia (retinitis)'.
