Biography

John Stanley Gower was a 19 year old electrician when he enlisted in Ballarat on the 8th of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A38 Ulysses on the 1st of March 1916.
On August 27th 1917, he was taken on strength with the Australian Flying Corps and given the rank of Second Aircraft Mechanic.
John was appointed First Aircraft Mechanic on the 1st of June 1918.
He returned to Australia on the 13th of November 1919 and was discharged on the 5th of January 1920 due to the termination of his enlistment period.
