Biography

Born in Ballarat, James Charles McLeod was a single 18 year old clerk at the time of his enlistment on the 2nd of August 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A18 Wiltshire on the 18th of November 1915. James was discharged as medically unfit on the 31st of August 1917.
He re-enlisted on the 12th of May 1919 in Melbourne, Victoria at the age of 22. He embarked from Australia on the 27th of May 1919. James returned to Australia on the 11th of October 1919, and was discharged for a second time as medically unfit on the 4th of March 1920.
