Biography

Born in Ballarat, Walter Newman was a 21 year old bacon curer by trade when he enlisted in on the 10th of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A68 Anchises on the 14th of March 1916. He embarked for Australia on the 5th of July 1916 and was discharged as medically unfit on the 10th of September 1916 due to cardiac irritability.
