Biography

Born in Millbrook, Ballarat, Grenville and a Bank Clerk by occupation, Ivie Beaumont Blight was 25 years and single when enlisted on the 14th of July 1915 in the 14th Battalion, 17th Reinforcement, Australian Imperial Force, with the rank of Private, Number 5339. Unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A14 Euripides on 4 April 1916. Promoted E.R. 2nd Corporal (A.A.P.C.) on the 1st of November 1916. Stuck off Strength on marching out to A.I.F. Kit Store on the 6th of February 1917. E.R. 2nd Corporal taken on strength of A.I.F. Kit Store and promoted E.R. Sergeant on the 1st of August 1917. Appointed acting staff Sergeant on the 31st of May 1918. Promoted E.R. Staff Sergeant on the 12th of September 1918. On the 10th of February 1919 admitted to 3rd A.A. Hospital, England Influenza and discharged on the 25th of February 1919. On the 28th of March left England for return to Australia per H.T. 'Port Macquarie' and was listed as returned to Australia on the 28th of March 1919. Disembarked at Melbourne on the 26th of May 1919 and discharged from the A.I.F. at Melbourne on the 10th of July with the termination of period if Enlistment. Tree No.1662
