Biography

Frederick Charles Mayall (SN 1183) born at Ballarat, was a married 31 year old stable man when he enlisted in Perth on May 10th 1915. Assigned to the 10th Light Horse Regiment he embarked from Fremantle aboard the Anchises on September 2nd and sailed to Egypt. Further training in Egypt was hampered first by a bout of influenza and then increasingly by rheumatism until it was decided he should be returned to Australia. He returned aboard the Ascanius, disembarked at Fremantle on September 23rd 1916 and was discharged medically unfit on April 2nd 1917.
