Biography

Andrew Eric Muir (SN 4549) was born in Ballarat and attended the Urquhart Street State School. He was 21 years old, single and a coach trimmer when he enlisted on July 16th 1915. He was posted to the 8th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne in January 1916. Once in Egypt he was transferred to 58th Infantry Battalion. On July 18th 1916 he died of wounds received the day before the tragic charge at Fromelles and is buried in Rue-Du-Bois Military Cemetery, France.
