Bertie Pring (SN 3455) was born in Melbourne, but grew up in Ballarat, attending the Golden Point State School. He was a 22 year old labourer when he enlisted in Melbourne on July 19th 1915. He joined the 14th Infantry Battalion and departed from Melbourne in October on board the Nestor. He spent three months training in Egypt before arriving in France in June 1916. Just three weeks later, on June 29th 1916, he died of wounds received at Pozieres and is buried in Brewery Orchard Military Cemetery, France.
