Biography

George Joseph Farrell Dial [DAKIN] (SN 4470) was born and educated at Allendale near Creswick. He was a 22 year old miner when he enlisted under the alias, Dakin, in July 1915. His real name was not discovered until after his death. He joined the 58th Infantry Battalion in Egypt before arriving in France in June 1916. Less then a month later he was killed in action at Fromelles on July 19th 1916. He is buried at Rue-du-Bois Military Cemetery, Fleurbaix, France.
