Biography

Harold McKenzie was born at Ballarat and was a Draper by trade and enlisted as a single 23 year old in Ballarat on 21st August 1914. His unknown journey began when his unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board Transport A24 Benalla on 19 October 1914. On the 21/8/14 he received 28 days detention. He was admitted to hospital for scabies 13/9/16. On the 17/8/17 he was appointed acting Lance Corporal of the 67th Battalion at Windmill Hill. He also spent time in hospital on different occassions for a number of medical reasons over the time of his involvement in the war, up until around the 7/6/18. Whilst on active duty, he had a charge bought against him for striking a Superior Officer and resisting arrest. The finding was : Guilty on both charges 17/6/18. Finally returning to Australia at Port Darwin 12/6/19. Tree No. 170.
