Jack Allan was born in and enlisted from Ballarat on 20th July 1915. He was posted to the 5th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 4648. Later he was transferred to the 58th Infantry Battalion. He was 23 years old, single and a law clerk. Whilst in training at Egypt he was admitted to 1st Australian Stationary Hospital in lsmailia. He died of pleuro-pneumonia on 17th April 1916 and is buried in the lsmailia War Cemetery, Egypt.
