Angus McGregor was born in Ballarat and was a Carpenter by trade when he enlisted in the 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station on 20 July 1915 at the age of 24. He commenced his training with the depot battalion at Seymour before undertaking further Medical Corps training at Ascot Vale and Royal Park. He sailed from Melbourne on May 20th 1916, aboard the Medic, and disembarked at Plymouth, England, on July 18th. In September he moved to France where he served with the 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station until the war's end. He returned to Australia as a member of the nursing staff on the Soudan, disembarking at Melbourne on June 29th 1919.
