Biography

Angus McGregor (SN 14056) was born in Ballarat East and attended Eureka Street State School. He was a single, 24 year old carpenter when he enlisted in the 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station on July 20 1915 at the age of 24. He commenced his training with the depot battalion at Seymour before undertaking further Medical Corps training at Ascot Vale and Royal Park. He sailed from Melbourne on May 20 1916, aboard the Medic, and disembarked at Plymouth, England, on July 18 1916. In September he moved to France where he served with the 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station until the war's end. He returned to Australia as a member of the nursing staff on the Soudan, arriving at Melbourne on May 12 1919. He was discharged June 29 1919.
