John Alexander Nelson was born at Ballarat and was married, a Labourer and at the age of 21 enlisted from Ballarat on 21st August 1914. He embarked on a journey into the unknown from Melbourne, Victoria, on board Transport A24 Benalla on 19 October 1914. He was admitted to hospital on 28/2/15. On the 12/7/15 he embarked fit for active service in Malta, from there embarked for the frontline in Alexandria 19/7/15. He spent time in hospital for Diarrhea from 31/8/15 to 2/9/15. Was admitted again to hospital as sick on 27/9/15.
