Biography

James Augustus Morrissey was a single 24 year old railway employee at the time of his enlistment on the 20th of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A40 Ceramic on the 23rd of November 1915.
On the 21st of January 1916, James was promoted to Driver. In 1918, James was promoted to Extra Regimental Corporal, and then to Extra Regimental Sergeant. On the 1st of May 1919 he was promoted to Extra Regimental Staff Sergeant.
James returned to Australia on the 3rd of September 1919, and was discharged as medically unfit on the 8th of December 1919.
