Biography

Horace Lisle Rintel (Lt.) was born in Clunes but on July 20th 1915 he enlisted at Warragul. Aged 25, he had previously taught at Ballarat Grammar school. He joined the 8th Infantry Battalion as a Lieutenant and embarked for the battlefields in November 1916, on board the Hororata. He arrived in France the following April but, on September 20th 1917, he was killed in action at Menin Road, and is buried in the Tyne Cot Cemetery, Zonnebeke, Belgium.
