Biography

Thomas Albert Lewis (SN 1496) was born in Ballarat and attended the Urquhart Street State School. He was a 24 year old, unmarried carter when he enlisted In Ballarat on July 21st 1915. Appointed to the 3rd Light Horse Regiment Machine Gun Squadron, he departed from Melbourne on board the Ceramic in late November. He survived the war but was killed when he accidentally fell from a horse whilst on duty on January 27th 1919. He is buried in the Beirut Military Cemetery, Syria.
