John Jordan (SN 6825) was born in Allendale and attended the local state school. He enlisted in Melbourne on July 21st 1915. He was a metropolitan fireman, aged 24 and single. He joined the 4th Field Artillery Brigade and left Australia in November on board the Wiltshire. He reached France in March 1916 and reached the rank of Sergeant in July 1917 before being transferred to hospital in England with a fever. He returned to France in January 1918 but was killed in action on September 1st 1918, and is buried in the Peronne Cemetery, France.
