Biography

Ulric Harold Wilson was born in Portland, VIC and was a Gasolette Agent living in Ballarat when he enlisted in the Field Artillery Brigade 2, Reinforcement 14 on 22 August 1915 at the age of 24. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A32 Themistocles on 28 January 1916. He arrived in France in March and served safely until February 1917 when he accidentally scalded his right foot. It was serious enough that he was evacuated to hospital in England, destined not to return to France. In early June he was hospitalised again, with mumps, and in late June he was transferred to the Australian Flying Corps where he joined the 29th Training Squadron, Transport Section. After the war he returned home on the Port Sydney and disembarked in Melbourne on November 12th 1919.
