William Carnegie Keith (SN 8712) born at Ballarat, was a 21 year old tailor when he enlisted in Ballarat on July 29th 1915. He trained with the Australian Medical Corps before embarking aboard the Vestalia on January 18th 1916. He served in France and in England, first with the 2nd Australian General Hospital and then with the 4th Field Ambulance. He avoided wounds during his service and returned to Australia aboard the Port Darwin, disembarked at Melbourne on July 27th 1919 and was discharged on September 18th.
