Biography

Henry George Ross was born in Ballarat, Victoria, was single and a Collar Maker when he enlisted in the 14th Battalion, 13th Reinforcement on 22 July 1915 at the age of 31. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A64 Demosthenes on 29 December 1915. On 18 March 1916 he suffered mustard gas poisoning and was admitted to the 3rd Auxiliary Hospital. The poisoning proved severe and he embarked for Australia at Suez for discharge.
