Biography

Glencairn Wilson (SN 1819) born at Camperdown, was a married 22 year old farmer when he enlisted in Melbourne on July 22nd 1915. He was assigned to the 9th Light Horse Regiment and embarked aboard the Afric on January 5th 1916 and sailed to Egypt. In April 1916 he was transferred to the 13th Field Artillery Brigade then moved to France in August. He went absent without leave in England on January 3rd 1917, until a Court of Inquiry three weeks later declared him to be an illegal absentee. It is not recorded when or how he returned to Australia. He was discharged on March 22nd 1920 ‘having signed a confession that he deserted from the A.I.F.’
