Norman Selmon (SN 14068) from Gnarr Street Ballarat was a 23 year old carpenter at the time of his enlistment on July 9th 1915. He trained at Ballarat and Broadmeadows before being posted to the 10th Field Ambulance Brigade at Ascot Vale. He sailed from Australia on the Medic on May 19th 1916 and reached England in July. He served in France with the 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station, then after the war he returned to Australia as a member of the nursing staff on the Borda, disembarking at Melbourne on June 27th 1919. He was discharged on August 11th 1919. He died on July 30th 1985 at the age of 93.
Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Norman Selman.
