Herbert Blackburn was born at Glasgow, Scotland. He was a Bootmaker by trade and at the age of 27 whilst single, enlisted at South Melbourne, Victoria on 21 August 1914.His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board Transport A3 Orvieto on 21 October 1914. He was chastised for disobeying orders between the 18/7/15 till around 24/8/15. He was admitted to hospital in Malta for shell shock 19/8/15 and among other things. He returned to Australia 11 January 1918. Tree No. 177.
