Biography

Frederick Preisig (SN 2032) was born in Ballarat and attended the Humffray Street State School. He was a 28 year old, unmarried hairdresser, when he enlisted on July 24th 1915. He was posted to the 21st Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne in August on board the Anchises, arriving in France in March 1916. On July 31st 1916, during the fighting at Pozieres, he was killed in action. With no known grave his name is listed on the Australian Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France.
