Biography

Andrew George Scott was born in Ballarat, Victoria, was single and a Gardener when he enlisted in the 21st Battalion, 3rd Reinforcement on 24 July 1915 at the age of 26. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A68 Anchises on 26 August 1915. According to his digitised records he transferred to the 2/A Heavy Trench Mortal Battery in June 1916 before joining with the 5th Field Artillery Battalion as a Gunner. He spent a brief time in hospital sick in 1918 but the remainder of his tour was without major incident, illness or injury. He returned home to Australia on 5 April 1919.
