Biography

Walter Granland (SN 3764) born at Sebastopol, was an 18 year old gardener when he enlisted in Ballarat on August 5th 1915. He embarked aboard the Ceramic on November 23rd attached to the 6th Infantry Battalion and sailed to England. In April 1916 he was transferred to the Anzac Police then the Anzac Provost Corps until August 1917 when he was returned to the 6th Battalion. He moved to France in November 1917 and served out the war without major incident. He returned home of the City of Poona, disembarked on May 14th 1919 and was discharged on July 6th. He also enlisted to serve during World War 2 with service number VX35554.
