Aubrey Mitchell Simmons (SN 14015) born at Ballarat, was a 23 year old art teacher when he enlisted in Ballarat on July 24th 1915. He embarked aboard the Medic on May 20th and came ashore in France in January 1917 to serve with the 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station. He was later transferred to the 1st Anzac Army Corps Headquarters and among his duties was arranging behind the lines cinema and entertainment for the troops. He returned to Australia on the Wahehe, disembarked on December 13th 1919 and was discharged on March 5th 1920.
