Biography

Born in Ballarat, Victoria and a chemist by trade, Cecil Roy Barrett was 24 years and single when enlisted on the 25th of October 1916 in the Staff Sergeant Dispensers, Australian Imperial Force, with the rank of Staff Sergeant, Number 15060. His Unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A11 'Ascanius' on the 11th of May 1917. Taken on Strength from the 7th Field Ambulance from A.I.F. Headquarters London on the 27th of November 1917 and appointed Staff Sergeant Field Ambulance. Admitted to hospital sick on the 8th of March 1919; and for Scabies on the 14th of February 1919. Embarked return to Australia per 'Borda' ex U.K. on the 27th of January 1920. Disembarked on the 27th if January 1920. Discharged from the 3rd Military District on the 6th of March 1920 with the termination of period of enlistment. Tree No.1793
