Cecil Roy Barrett (SN 15060) born in Ballarat, was a 24 year old chemist when he enlisted in Melbourne on October 25th 1916. He embarked aboard the Ascanius on May 11th 1917 and sailed to England before moving to France in November to serve with the 7th Field Ambulance. He came through the war without significant incident, but before returning home he was granted leave to undertake a five-month course in spectacle making. He returned to Australia aboard the Borda, disembarked at Melbourne on January 27th 1920 and was discharged on March 6th.
