Biography

Jack Berryman Wrigley (SN 3689) was born in Ballarat where he attended the Dana Street State School. He was an 18 year old blacksmith when he enlisted in Melbourne on July 20th 1915. He was allocated to the 24th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne in January 1916. He reached France in July but then illness had him absent from duty for 68 days. In February 1917 he was transferred to the 6th Machine Gun Company and on October 9th 1917 he was killed in action at Poelcappelle. He is buried in Passchendaele New British Cemetery, Belgium
