Biography

William Goble was a single 31 year old manager at the time of his enlistment on the 25th of November 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A64 Demosthenes on the 29th of December 1915.
On March 17th 1916 he was taken on strength to the 1st Pioneers Battalion from the 5th Battalion.
In the months of August, September and November of 1916 he was promoted to Corporal, Temporary Sergeant and Sergeant.
On April 25th 1918 William was promoted to Extra Regimental Company Quartermaster Sergeant.
He returned to Australia on the 30th of January 1919 and was discharged on the 16th of March 1919 as medically unfit.
