David Harold Jude (SN 124) was born in Buninyong and enlisted in Ballarat on August 22nd 1914. He was 23 years old, single and a railway fireman. He joined the 8th Infantry Battalion and embarked with the first Anzac fleet in October on board the Benalla. He was killed in action at Gallipoli on May 1st 1915, and is buried in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey.
