Biography

Ernest Garner Parrot was born in Uppingham, England and was a Dentist in Ballarat when he enlisted in the Army Medical Corps, Special Reinforcements on 14 July 1915 at the age of 41. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A63 Karoola on 7 March 1916. . He embarked from Melbourne on March 7th 1916 aboard the Karoola and sailed to England. He served in France with the 12th and 13th Field Ambulance Brigades until influenza forced his evacuation to hospital in England in December 1916. In April 1917 he left England to return to Australia on the Themistocles and disembarked at Melbourne on July 2nd. A month later he was discharged as æmedically unfit – deafness'.
