Chris Parrot was born in Falmouth, England and was a Labourer living in Ballarat East when he enlisted in the 39th Battalion, A Company on 3 April 1916 at the age of 18. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A11 Ascanius on 27 May 1916. He was sent to Hospital as sick while in France on 2 January 1917. Three months later he was wounded in action with a gunshot wound to the chest. He embarked for England and was admitted to the Military Hospital at Colchester before returning to Australia on 25 August 1917.
