Biography

Richard Worthington (SN 4334) was born at Creswick but attended the Wendouree State School. He was a 33 year old jockey and horse trainer when he enlisted in Melbourne on July 27th 1915. He first joined the 14th Infantry Battalion and embarked in late December. Once in Egypt he was transferred to the 46th Infantry Battalion before moving to France in June 1916. On April 11th 1917 he was killed in action at Bullecourt. He has no known grave and his name is on the Australian Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France.
