John Clifford Nicholls was a 23 year old single barman at the time of his enlistment on the 27th of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Vic, on board H.M.A.T. A32 Themistocles on the 28th of January 1916.
He was appointed Driver on the 18th of September 1918.
John returned to Australia on the 29th of August 1919 and was discharged due to the termination of his enlistment period on the 21st of October 1919.
