Harold William Davies was a 22 year old, unmarried teacher when he enlisted from Yandoit Hill on 27th July 1915. He was born at Homebush, near Avoca He joined the 58th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 3537. During his service he was promoted Corporal, and was awarded a Military Medal for outstanding bravery under fire. He died of wounds incurred near Villers-Bretonneux ori 5th April 1918, and is buried in La Neuville British Cemetery, France.
