Biography

Born in London, England, John Key was a single 21 year old labourer at the time of his enlistment in Melbourne, Victoria on the 28th of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A64 Demosthenes on the 29th of December 1915.
On the 8th of August 1916 John was wounded in action. He was invalided to England on the 10th of August, and admitted to Brook War Hospital, Woolwich, England with a gunshot wound to his left foot on the 12th of August.
John returned to Australia on the 20th of October 1919, and was discharged as medically unfit on the 12th of December 1919, his debility not being stated.
