Biography

John O'Bern (SN 2284) was Ballarat born and attended the Dana Street State School. He was 24 years old, single, and an engineer when he enlisted in Melbourne on July 28th 1915, becoming a Sapper in the 2nd Field Company Australian Engineers. Later he was transferred to the 1st Division Supply Column.
He was killed by an accidental bomb explosion at Steenwerck on December 13th 1917, and is buried in Trois Arbres Cemetery, Steenwerck, France.
