Biography

Born in Ballarat, Harold Augustus Hambly was a single 18 year old clerk when he enlisted on the 31st of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A40 Ceramic on the 23rd of November 1915.
On March 9th 1916, Harold was transferred to the 5th Division Signal Company.
He was appointed Lance Corporal on the 11th of March 1918.
On the 27th of September 1917, Harold was awarded the Military Medal.
He returned to Australia on the 31st of May 1919 and was discharged due to the termination of his enlistment period on the 3rd of September 1919.
