Biography

Victor Aldred Hobba was born in Homebush, NSW and was a Farm labourer by trade when he enlisted from Ballarat in the 2nd Field Company Engineers, Reinforcement 14 on 2 August 1915 at the age of 22. His unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A54 Runic on 20 January 1916. In March 1916 he joined the 15th Field Company Engineers and travelled on to France in June. It seems the worst injury he suffered occurred on April 29th 1918 when he accidentally sprained his left ankle and was out of the line for a month. He returned home on the Devanha, disembarking at Melbourne on June 23rd 1919.
