Biography

Leslie Albert Cartledge (SN 2597) enlisted in the 24th Infantry Battalion in Ballarat, on August 2nd 1915. He was 20 years old, single and employed as a jockey. He was shot during the fighting near Estaires on July 16th 1916. He was being treated in the No. 1 Australian Casualty Clearing Station when he died on 17th July 1916. He is buried at Estaires Communal Cemetery, Nord, France.
