Born in Stawell, Victoria, Charles Patrick McCarthy was a married 38 year old labourer at the time of his enlistment in Ballarat on the 2nd of August 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A18 Wiltshire on the 7th of March 1916.
Charles was discharged as medically unfit on the 6th of August 1917.
