Biography

Denholm Brown Stevenson (SN 4595) was born in Ballarat and attended the Black Hill State School. The 19 year old, single labourer enlisted on July 16th 1915, joining the 8th Infantry Battalion. He embarked from Melbourne at the end of January on board the Themistocles. While in Egypt he was transferred to the 58th Infantry Battalion with which he moved to France in June. On July 19th 1916 he was killed in action at Fromelles. He has no known grave and his name is recorded in VC Corner Australian Cemetery & Memorial, Fromelles, France.
