Biography

John Leslie Harrison was a single 18 year old assistant clerk at the time of his enlistment in Ballarat on the 18th of August 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A32 Themistocles on the 28th of January 1916.
On October 6th 1917 he was appointed Lance Corporal, and then promoted to Second Corporal on the 6th of December 1917.
John was promoted to Corporal on the 1st of February 1918 and then promoted to Sergeant on the 3rd of March 1918.
John was wounded in action on the 11th of August 1918, but remained at duty.
He was awarded the Military Medal on the 24th of January 1919.
John returned to Australia on the 21st of June 1919 and was discharged as medically unfit on the 14th of September 1919.
