Arthur William Smith was born in Ballarat, and enlisted from Sebastapol on 9th July 1915. He was an ironmonger's assistant, aged 18 and single. He was posted to the 14th Infantry Battalion with Regimental No, 4309. He was killed in action on 18th September 1918 at Hindenberg Outer Line, and is buried in Bellicourt British Cemetery, France.
