Frederick (Fred) Edwards (SN 3728) born in Ballarat, was a 30 year old horse trainer when he enlisted on August 12th 1915. Assigned to the 14th Battalion his unit embarked from Melbourne aboard the Ceramic on November 23rd. While in Egypt he was transferred to the 46th Battalion and posted to France as a driver. Apart from a brief hospital stint as a result of accidental concussion, he came through the war without significant physical injury. He returned home on the Armagh, disembarking at Melbourne on May 18th 1919 and was discharged on July 10th.
