John Gordon Page was born in Chepstowe, VIC and was a Grocer in Ballarat when he enlisted in the 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station on 13 August 1915 at the age of 29. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A7 Medic on 20 May 1916. He transferred to the 10th Field Ambulance on 8 march 1916 and, aside from a report of being sent to hospital sick on 31 January 1917, his record shows he had avoided serious injury for the remainder of his duty, returning home to Australia on 19 June 1919.
