Norman Hankin (SN 15133) born at Dimboola, was a 20 year old motor mechanic when he enlisted in Ballarat on September 6th 1915. As a member of the Army Medical Corps, he embarked from Melbourne on August 19th 1916 for service in the Middle East. In January 1918 he was transferred to the Australian Flying Corps but through much of 1918 he was troubled by gastritis. He was returned to Australia aboard the Margha, disembarked at Melbourne on March 5th 1919 and was discharged on April 12th.
